This weekend, unfortunately, a few people were killed here in Spain, due to a heavy storm. Most of them traded the temporary for the eternal because of collapsing walls and buildings. This clever piece of architecture is designed by London architects dRMM. It is a house with mobile walls and roof that can be moved to cover and uncover parts of the dwelling. Let the storms come.

I believe photography is the best medium to capture time. The Dutch photographer Hanneke van Leeuwen knows how to capture time and even capture the past. I think her breathtaking young talent is gonna travel far.

I am not a fan of dolls and doll making, until I discovered Marina Bychkova.
She is an amazing doll sculptor who makes dolls out of porcelain. And not just dolls, she creates stories, every doll tells a little story.

The sheer madness, of cutting your hair and weaving it piece by piece on the immensely popular Blythe doll. Just to make a selfportait, that is the madness I really like. The devotion of craft.

A few months ago we entered the sound innovation competition.
Last week the results were published.
We made it to the 150 shortlist out of roughly 3500 participants.

The Table of sound integrates music into your home in a stylish way. Connect virtually any device wirelessly, through the built-in dock or with a regular minijack connection. Pick a color combination and put on some music!

More on this in our portfolio.

A friend’s bedroom,
well, the place where he tries to sleep,
well, where he sleeps sometimes,
well, where he listens to music and sleeps,
well, when he sleeps
if he does.

When Tom Cruise was controlling his computer by making gestures in the air, everybody thought this was some crazy futuristic concept. But clearly that’s wrong. The Theremin is an instrument invented around 1920 that does quite the same thing. It is played by gesturing around it’s tentacles.

Enjoy this DIY mini theremin kit instruction video!

A performance by a dear friend of mine. On of my favourite videos she made.

In the public performance ‘Her name is Marilyn,..’ by Katinka Simonse, the artist-designer takes a dead dog dressed in a white dress named Marilyn for a walk in Beverly Hills, L.A.. When asked what she is doing while dragging the animal over the streets, she consequently answers by saying ‘Her name is Marilyn’.

Very nice typographic titles for the film Thank you for smoking, the entire title sequence is situated on packets of cigarettes. Graphic design of cigarettes packaging is most of the time very strong. Good idea to use it.

What can you do with a wine carafe? Well I found these two designs, one of Sebastian Berge called Cru, very nice, a little rough, with the corks and all. And the other one is In Vino Veritas by Matali Crasset , witch I like allot, it has humor, tongue in cheek, that is what a good design needs.

It was about  4  years ago. Wout and I where on a holiday in the south of France. One day we visited a castle, because that is what you do when you are in the south of France: taste wine and visit castles. Anyway, that was the first time we came in contact with the marvellous Felice Varini. The master of modern Trompe L’oeil.
It is mindboggling what this man does with spaces.

Simplicity

That´s the keyword that we are gonna use in 2009,
simplicity, not in the sense of less is more, that is so nineties.
More in the sense that a simple idea, movement or thought can result to a good concept or design. Stop thinking, start acting. Just realise the first idea, do not investigate if it’s done before, you make it different anyway, do not think this is too simple, it’s all about the idea.

Simplicity, that is the keyword the Wondering Boys are gonna use in 2009.
